What is CASB?

A CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker) is a security layer that sitsbetween users and cloud servicesto enforce an organization’s security policies when employees access SaaS, IaaS, or PaaS applications.

CASB is a security checkpoint for all cloud traffic, as it handles monitoring, controlling, and securing data as it moves between users and cloud apps. On the SSE, it is designed to allow for the control of user access to cloud based applications as well as their internal commands.

Within the CASB feature, there are 3 main menus:

  • SaaS Access - This feature controls user access to cloud-based applications by allowing, blocking, or logging activity. It helps administrators enforce usage policies across more than a thousand SaaS services.
  • Reverse SaaS Access - This feature secures SaaS authentication by acting as a SAML proxy to ensure users access enterprise apps only through the approved gateway. It blocks unauthorized access and prompts users to install the connector when required.
  • In-App Control - This feature manages user actions within SaaS applications by controlling what functions or activities they can perform. It helps enforce granular security and compliance inside the app itself.
